I had the great fortune to visit this amazing resort this month. I have to say that being a travel agent has opened me up to travelling in a way I never imagined - I see things differently and was warned of that! I notice concierge, customer service, and let me tell you - this resort has it! Being a 5 star resort Secrets, as with all AM Resorts, knows how to treat their clients with ultimate luxury. Located 40 minutes south of the SJD Airport, this resort caters to adults only.
I opted for the preferred club membership which entitled me to access to the private clubhouse, which is where I spent a good chunk of my time. Here, guests were treated to top shelf hors d'oeuvres and liquor. It was a quiet and luxurious atmosphere which I enjoyed very much and allowed me to do some work without distractions.
The beach was a bit of a let down. While you do have access to a beach, it is down a stairwell away from any sort of seating area. It was great having my morning coffee out here while sitting in the sand and watching the sun come up, since there was no one out there.
The spa.... my favorite part of this trip! I was treated so well here and it is well worth the money. For $200 USD you can have a one hour pre-massage hydrotherapy session. Mine started with a dry sauna, wet sauna with eucalyptus treatment, then hydrotherapy pool with jets of all sorts. The hour long massage following this was the best I've ever had. The atmosphere was relaxing and products used were top quality.
As part of my check in and out procedure, they take care of your bags and move you quickly from the front desk to a private check in area by golf cart. The staff are incredibly accommodating and friendly.
This resort has plenty of food options, none of which require wristbands. A great coffee shop for the morning, several elegant dining options, and a fun sports bar in the evening!
The room I had was an amazing suite! I had tossed up the idea of a swim out but opted instead for a room with a tub on the deck. I was sorely disappointed that the water ran cold and when mentioning it at checkout it didn't seem to matter much! I would have to say that was my only negative experience at this resort as the stay was enjoyable.
